Albert Street Park

Fort Erie, Ontario

SHIFT led the public consultation process, developed the master plan, and led the detailed design process for Albert Street Park.

The concept for the park focuses on a design resolution that is intended to heighten functionality and a perceived sense of place. The park is framed by a green edge of trees and shrubs, providing a room-like quality and privacy for neighbours. Park elements are structured around a strong curvilinear circulation system that direct visitors deep into the site. Play equipment, a sports court, and painted line games provide active recreation. Play lawns and a tree grove with permeable aggregate surface allow for passive gathering. The shade structure creates an architectural focal point, creating shade, and drawing visitors into the park.
